School Application and Enrollment Process

Learn about the New Orleans school registration process.

Navigating School Choices

Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you can make as a parent or guardian. In New Orleans students are not assigned to public schools based on where they live and you must apply to and choose a school for your child.

In past school years, applying to an enrolling in public schools involved submmitting a separate application for each school and each student. That’s changing as the public school community evolves and responds to parent pressure. Now, most schools are part of one of three common applications processes:

The OneApp New Orleans Public School Enrollment Process – includes all schools that are part of the Recovery School District (both charter and non-charter schools) as well as the schools that are directly-operated by the Orleans Parish School Board (visit enrollnola.org for more information)

ECCS’s Common Application – includes several OPSB charter schools that are part of the Eastbank Collaborative of Charter Schools that have opted to use a shared application form (visit www.eastbankcollaborative.com for more information)

The OneApp

The Recovery School District has launched a new citywide enrollment system for RSD direct-run and charter schools called OneApp. Through the new system parents/students will have the opportunity to rank schools they most prefer for their students and will provided with one school that is available and best matches their preferences.

Applications are available beginning in January 2013 and are due by March 15, 2012.

Applications can be picked up or turned in at any participating school or at a Family Resource Center:
